Federica Busiello is a gender technical specialist with 10 years’ experience in international development. She has been an associate of WISE Development since August 2015. Her areas of specialism include: Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Analysis of development programmes and initiatives; Women’s Empowerment, with a particular focus on Economic Empowerment; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR); and Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG). She has a strong track record of providing high quality outputs for a variety of clients, including Government and UN agencies, as well as international and national not for profit organisations. She has conducted research and consultancy fieldwork in various countries (Peru, Georgia, Uganda), and has previously spent 2 years in Tanzania, where she took on longer term roles supporting local social enterprises working towards youth’s and women’s empowerment.
Her expertise includes drafting gender mainstreaming tools and guidance; supporting the design of gender focused reviews and capacity building strategies; conducting background research and analysis (focused on gender and inclusion) to inform programme design and strategies; supporting evaluations of programmes and fund mechanisms, including collecting primary data; and providing ad-hoc support to senior gender advisors working on large programmes.
Federica speaks Italian, French and Spanish fluently, and has conversational knowledge of Kiswahili.
