Mary is a principal international gender, social and institutional development consultant, with 26 years of international experience, working from practice to policy level with governments, bilateral and multi-lateral donors and (I)NGOs. She has been a gender and social inclusion specialist on projects and programmes in a range of sectors and technical areas including education, health, child protection, nutrition, WASH, HIV/AIDS, agriculture, land, forestry and climate change. She is an experienced project manager and team leader and has provided leadership and strategic direction for improving gender equality and women’s empowerment. She has conducted complex international and national evaluations and reviews for DFID, EU, UNDP, UNESCO, CABI, Camfed, the Commonwealth Secretariat, Practical Action, Help Age International and Sight-Savers International as well as national governments. She conducts gender analyses, audits and appraisals and supports the development and implementation of gender policies. She is a gender trainer/capacity developer and gender trainer-trainer and develops gender guidelines, manuals and online programmes. She has strong facilitation, advocacy and influencing skills.
